Dutch-born Ghanaian central defender Derrick Luckassen featured for the entire 90 minutes as Cypriot side Pafos FC suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to English giants Chelsea FC in a UEFA Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
Despite Luckassen’s presence and effort at the back, Pafos were unable to find the net, with Chelsea securing the win through a solitary goal. The result adds to the challenge for the Cypriot side as they aim to make an impact in Europe’s premier club competition.
Luckassen’s full-match participation highlights his importance to Pafos’ defensive setup as they continue their campaign in the Champions League group stages.
The Dutch-Ghanaian defender is eligible to represent the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament later this year in Mexico, Canada and the United States of America.
