Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Brian Brobbey delivered a standout performance as Ajax cruised to a dominant 4-0 victory over Besiktas in their UEFA Europa League clash at Johan Cruijff ArenA on Thursday evening.
Ajax took control from the start, dictating play and applying constant pressure on the Turkish side. Kian Fitz-Jim opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a close-range finish, giving Ajax a deserved lead. Just after halftime, Mika Godts doubled their advantage in the 51st minute following a lightning-fast counter-attack led by Bertrand Traoré.
Brobbey’s moment of brilliance came in the 55th minute when he displayed his strength and playmaking ability, providing a clever assist from outside the box for Kenneth Taylor to score Ajax’s third goal. Godts sealed the win with his second goal in the 73rd minute, completing a brace and capping off a comprehensive performance for the Dutch side.
Ajax now turn their attention to their upcoming Eredivisie fixture against RKC Waalwijk, buoyed by their emphatic European win.
