Valencia are reportedly stepping up efforts to land Ghana international Joseph Aidoo on loan as head coach Carlos Corberán looks to reinforce his defensive unit for the remainder of the La Liga campaign.
The 30-year-old Celta Vigo centre-back has only recently returned to full fitness following a lengthy recovery from a cruciate ligament injury that kept him sidelined for almost a year. His successful comeback has attracted attention, with the struggling Mestalla outfit identifying Aidoo as a reliable and experienced option to shore up their back line.
According to Deportes COPE, Aidoo could move into serious contention if he is able to terminate his contract with Celta Vigo, which currently runs until June 30, 2026. Valencia are actively exploring solutions to cope with the continued absence of Mouctar Diakhaby, although the report stresses that Eray Cömert is not expected to be forced out of the club.
Despite his long spell on the sidelines, Aidoo has made five competitive appearances this season — three in La Liga and two in the Copa del Rey — with Celta Vigo winning all five matches. Notably, his only league starts came away to Osasuna and in a commanding 4-1 home victory over Valencia at Balaídos, a performance that highlighted his influence when trusted from the outset.
Calm, authoritative and well-versed in the demands of La Liga, Aidoo offers leadership, composure and top-flight experience at the heart of defence — attributes Valencia are eager to add as they seek stability and consistency in the second half of the season.
