Valencia are said to be monitoring Ghana international Jerome Opoku as part of their summer defensive overhaul. The La Liga side, currently 17th in the table, have already made initial contact with Istanbul Basaksehir to explore a potential transfer for the 27-year-old.
Sports World Ghana understands that Valencia are prepared to meet Basaksehir’s 8m Euros valuation and are considering a four-year contract with an annual salary of around 2.75m.Euros.
Opoku joined the Turkish club in June 2024 and is contracted until 2027, but his performances have drawn attention beyond Turkey, with a market value estimated at €5m.
The centre-back has also attracted interest from Premier League clubs including Fulham and Nottingham Forest, suggesting a competitive market if Basaksehir agree to sell.
While no formal offer has yet been lodged, the Spanish club’s early approach signals a desire to act quickly when the summer window opens. Meanwhile, Valencia remain focused on their domestic campaign, preparing for their 21st La Liga fixture against Espanyol.
Opoku’s potential move is part of a wider strategy to stabilise Valencia’s squad and improve results in the seasons ahead, with the club keen to secure reinforcements before next season.
