Ghanaian winger Mohammed Fuseini scored his first goal for Derby County as his dramatic stoppage-time equaliser secured a 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor in the Championship on Saturday.
Fuseini, who joined Derby on loan from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise on transfer deadline day, came off the bench in the 66th minute and made a decisive impact late in the game.
With Burnley leading through Zeki Amdouni’s 34th-minute header, Derby looked set to suffer another defeat before Fuseini rescued a point in the third minute of added time.
The 24-year-old was played through by fellow substitute Rhian Brewster following a quick break and kept his composure to drill a right-footed angled effort into the bottom corner via the inside of the far post.
It was Fuseini’s first goal since completing his loan move to Derby and a timely contribution for John Eustace’s side, who remain in the Championship’s bottom three.
For Burnley, the result extended their winless run and denied new head coach Nicky Hayen a much-needed first league victory since taking charge in July.
Fuseini will now hope his late intervention can provide the platform for more regular opportunities as he looks to establish himself in English football.
The Ghanaian had made three Championship appearances before Saturday’s game, including two starts, and had played 199 minutes in the competition this season.
