On Tuesday, Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku was subjected to hooting and booing by a group of fans during a lap of honour at the Babayara sports stadium.
This was in response to the Ghana U23 national men’s team’s 1-0 victory over Algeria, securing their qualification for the 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations (U23 AFCON) with a goal from Abdul Fatawu Issahaku in the 13th minute.
Despite their dominance over the Fennec Foxes, the Black Meteors were unable to convert more goal-scoring opportunities. Nevertheless, Ibrahim Tanko and his team secured their spot in the fourth edition of the U23 AFCON.
After the match, Okraku attended and attempted to give the Babayara crowd a lap of honour as a gesture of appreciation to the home fans. However, he was met with hooting and booing from a section of the crowd, which was an embarrassing incident for him.
