Ghana attacker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom scored the only goal to secure a vital home win for Beitar Jerusalem against Hapoel Jerusalem in the Israeli Liga ha’Al on Saturday.
The former Red Star Belgrade player grabbed the match winning goal to steal the win for Beitar in the entertaining Jerusalem Derby at the Teddy Stadium in relegation play-offs.
Despite going down by one man after Ivorian defender Yao Eloge was sent off in the first half, Hapoel held Beitar to a scoreless stalemate at the break.
Boakye-Yiadom broke the game’s deadlock in the 66th minute after he met an excellent cross from midfielder Oren Bitton to head home the only goal of the match.
The 29-year-old Saturday’s goal has taken tally in the season to 6 in 26 appearances in the Israeli top division and has two assists to his credit.
