The Asante Kotoko squad exuded joy and jubilation as their teammate, Richmond Lamptey, clinched a coveted spot in the final 27-man Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Richmond Lamptey’s stellar performances with the Porcupine Warriors earned him the nod from coach Chris Hughton, solidifying his presence in the AFCON squad. Initially part of the provisional 55-man lineup, Lamptey’s inclusion was officially confirmed on Monday, January 1, 2024.
Amid an atmosphere filled with camaraderie, Lamptey’s teammates couldn’t contain their excitement. The elated players celebrated by singing praises for their talented colleague, reflecting the joy and gratitude for Lamptey’s remarkable achievement as a creative midfielder.
The team is slated to commence its training camp in Kumasi on Tuesday, gearing up for the imminent challenges. As part of their preparation, Ghana will engage Namibia in a friendly match before embarking on their journey to Ivory Coast for the AFCON competition.
Drawn into Group B, Ghana is set to face football powerhouses Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
