Ghanaian striker Jalal Abdulai had an eventful night as Elfsborg drew 1-1 with Rijeka in the UEFA Europa League Qualification Round 3 on Thursday.
Abdulai opened the scoring for Elfsborg in the 25th minute with a well-placed right-footed shot from the centre of the box, thanks to an assist from Arbër Zeneli.
However, his night took a dramatic turn when he received a second yellow card for a foul in the 56th minute, resulting in a red card and an early exit from the match.
Despite Abdulai’s dismissal, Elfsborg managed to secure a draw, thanks to Rijeka’s equalizing goal in stoppage time of the first half. Ghanaian teammates Michael Baidoo and Terry Yegbe also featured for Elfsborg, with Baidoo playing 78 minutes and Yegbe completing the match.
Elfsborg will now focus on their upcoming Swedish Allsvenskan clash against GAIS on August 11.
