Kpando Heart of Lions head coach, Bashir Hayford, is confident that his coaching experience will be a major factor in his team’s success in the upcoming 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League season.
In an exclusive interview with ChannelOne Sports, the veteran coach spoke about his return to the Ghana Premier League and his determination to prove himself.
“I’m still alive, I’m still working, I’m still green,” Hayford said. “When I came back from Somalia, I decided to rest for a season. People wrote them (Heart of Lions) off that they are gone… so I took the challenge and I was able to sustain them in the Premiership. It has given us the experience to thrive on, the experience to see what we can do to not enter into the same situation again.”
The friendly match between Kpando Heart of Lions and Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club on Sunday, August 11 at the Accra Sports Stadium will be a key test for Hayford’s team ahead of the new season. The game also serves as a platform to preach peace ahead of Ghana’s Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in December.
“It will let Ghanaians know I’m still coaching, I’m still strong, I still have the knowledge, my knowledge now is so pure that I have matured with the knowledge,” Hayford emphasized.
