There was huge violence at the Lotto Park in Belgium during the 1/8 stage of the Belgian Cup between Anderlecht and Standard Liege.
Ghanaian duo of Majeed Ashimeru’s and Kamal Sowah were both introduced into the game in the 80th minute after Mario Stroeykens had broken the dead lock in the game in the 31st minutes of the game after Anderlecht looked more purposeful in attack.
Back from recess Danish forward Ander Dreyer combined with Kasper Dolberg to put the game beyond Standard Liege.
Getting close to the end of the game, projectiles were thrown into the game which forced the referee to temporarily suspend the game due to players safety.
Games between the two sides have always shown some element of violence whenever they clash. In October 2022, a similar incident occurred which caused the game to be suspended.
The win for Anderlecht will see them progress to the next stage of the knockout competition.
