Ghana’s Black Starlets will face the Stallions of Burkina Faso in the semifinals of the 2024 WAFU B U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
Ghana, who beat Benin to get to the final four, will now face Burkina Faso, who defeated Niger 1-0.
Burkina Faso managed to score the lone goal in their match against Niger on Thursday, May 23, following a postponement due to heavy rainfall the previous day. This victory secured their second-place finish in Group B, tying with Nigeria on points but falling short on goal differential.
The upcoming semifinal encounter will echo last year’s fixture at the same stage, held in Cape Coast, where the Stallions defeated Ghana 1-0, dashing the Starlets’ hopes of advancing to the final.
Under the guidance of Laryea Kingston, Ghana’s team will seek redemption and aim to secure a spot in the final, which would also ensure their participation in the next edition of the U-17 AFCON.
In the other semifinal matchup, Nigeria will face off against Cote d’Ivoire.
