Kumasi Asante Deputy Coach, Johnson Smith has opened up on their victory against Asokwa Deportivo in the Round 16 of the MTN FA Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors overcame the stubborn boys from Asokwa in a 2-1 victory in a regional derby. Kumasi Asante Kotoko came into the game at the Len Clay stadium with suspended coach Mariano Barreto in the stand with Assistant Coach Johnson Smith on the touchline.
In an interview after the game, Johnson Smith spoke on the dicey nature of the game and how they eventually won the fixture “ it was a little bit dicey when you are playing with a first division side which is also a local derby it is tough because the players know themselves and know what to expect from each other, but they did well and also used the experience to beat them”
When quizzed about the absence of Emmanuel Gyamfi and Coach Mariano Barreto on the game, the gaffer said “ they should have ban them days before the game not when we had done preparation for the game and included the player and the coach, it affected us because this was not the type of game we wanted to come and play” Johnson Smith Further stated.
Kumasi Asante will hope Accra Hearts of Oak slip in both remaining games to take advantage of annexing the League. The Porcupine Warrior will play their last two remaining games without Captain Emmanuel Gyamfi and Portuguese Coach Mariano Barreto.
