Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Yahaya has tempered expectations, saying that his team cannot promise to win the Ghana Premier League title next season.
Despite the club’s efforts to overhaul their squad after a disappointing finish in sixth place last season, Yahaya believes that it’s unrealistic to expect them to win the league. Instead, he is focusing on securing maximum points in their matches.
“We can’t raise our expectations so high. We’ve seen a lot of positives in our preseason so we hope it reflects in the league,” Yahaya said.
While Yahaya is being cautious with his expectations, he is optimistic about the team’s chances and is looking forward to a strong campaign.
“We can’t promise the Ghana Premier League title, but we aim to secure maximum points in all our games, whether home or away.”
The Porcupine Warriors are currently preparing for the new season, having made two wins in their preseason friendly matches. They will face Medeama SC this Friday in a ceremonial friendly match at the newly built TNA Park in Tarkwa.
Kotoko’s league campaign is set to begin against Karela United, and they will be looking to make a strong start to the season.
