Otto Addo recorded his first win in his second spell and has expressed excitement for the victory and also lauded his team’s fighting spirit in the crucial away win in Bamako.
The Black Stars came from a goal down to defeat the Malians in the matchday 3 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification game.
Mali had the best of chances but failed to find the back of the net as Jordan Ayew found the back of the net to make 2-1 to Ghana after 90 minutes.
Kamory Doumbia shot the Malians ahead just on the stroke of half time but two second half goals from Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew handed Ghana all three points.
Commenting on the game, the former Ghana international said: “In the first 20 minutes we struggled but in the second half we were better. Fatawu did great with his pressing late in the game. I think we did great in the conditions here.”
“I think we had a good fighting spirit but the game was 50-50. It was even and at the end our substitutes made the difference.”
“The game against Central African Republic will now be even more difficult because we will now be expected to win.”
Ghana now with six points in Group I, next will host Central African Republic in the next round of games on June 10, 2024.
