Despite Medeama Sporting Club’s 2-1 victory over Basake Holy Stars, head coach Ibrahim Tanko has voiced his frustration over his team’s inability to keep a clean sheet.
Speaking in a post-match press conference at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, Tanko acknowledged his team’s improved form but was disappointed by their defensive lapse.
After back-to-back defeats to Nations FC and Samartex, Medeama has responded with consecutive wins over Aduana Stars and Holy Stars. However, Tanko was not entirely satisfied with the performance, particularly the failure to shut out their opponents.
“We had a lot of chances in the first half and, at minimum, should have scored two or three goals. The only thing I’m not happy about is that we didn’t keep a clean sheet. But overall, we deserved to win—we created more chances than them, and I think the performance was good,” Tanko stated.
In another outstanding Ghana Premier League fixture, Kpando Heart of Lions suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bibiani Gold Stars in Bibiani, a result that saw Gold Stars overtake Asante Kotoko at the top of the league table.
Kotoko will face Berekum Chelsea in Kumasi on Wednesday, April 2.
