Former Nsoatreman FC coach and ex-Black Stars forward, Yaw Preko, is backing Ghana to secure victory against Chad in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The four-time African champions resume their qualifying campaign next month with two crucial fixtures. Ghana will first travel to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4, before hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Preko stressed the importance of maintaining the same drive and determination shown in the team’s previous matches.
“We know what is at stake now, and if you look at our performance in the last games, the players must approach these fixtures with the same determination,” Preko said.
“Playing against Chad will not be easy, especially on an astro turf, but if we remain vigilant and select the right players for the occasion, I strongly believe we have what it takes to win,” he added.
The Black Stars currently sit top of Group I with 15 points after six matches, three points clear of Comoros and five ahead of Madagascar, as they chase a fifth appearance at the World Cup.
Otto Addo’s squad will open camp in Accra on Monday, September 1, to prepare for the decisive fixtures.
