Medeama has been beaten 3-0 in Cairo and 3-0 in Dar es Salaam by Al Ahly and Yanga respectively in their 2 away games.
In the home fixtures, Medeama has beaten Belouizdad, drawn with Yanga and lost to Al Ahly. They are in a precarious position now as their destiny to qualify for the quarter-finals lies in the hands of others.
Evans Adotey Augustine thinks Medeama still can qualify. Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Al Ahly in Kumasi, the coach was in a buoyant mood ahead of the trip to Algiers.
“We lost here today, why can’t we win in Algeria,” revealed Evans Adotey Augustine.
The Technical Director cum head coach of Medeama, Adotey Evans showed his mathematical genius by saying “If Beluoizdad draws in Tanzania against Yanga on Saturday and Al Ahly beat Yanga on MD6 and Medeama wins against Belouizdad in Algeria, it means Medeama will progress”.
Medeama has a lot of work to do before they can qualify for the knockout phase. The Mauve and Yellows’ next trip is to Algiers to face the Champions of Algeria.
Young Africans will host CR Belouizdad of Algeir in Dar Salaam in the other fixture of Group D.
