Burkina Faso head coach Kamou Malo spoke to the media following his team’s 3-1 semifinal lost to Senegal on Wednesday during the first semifinals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Malo honorably admitted the superiority of the Teranga Lions.
“What I can remember from the Cameroon adventure is that it was beautiful. I would have liked to win tonight against Senegal but we played against a good team from Senegal, much more athletic and more experienced. This is what made the difference especially in the management in the second half.” Malo said.
“I congratulate my boys for this adventure. We are not going to give up, there is a medal to go for. We’re going to remobilize just to go. The African Cup has shown that football on the continent is in clear progress, this is what we must continue to do. I hope that the competition ends on a very good note, especially on the sporting level.” he added.
“We were just physically exhausted… These are the aspects related perhaps to the preparation. We had a lot of problems in preparation. We had cases of Covid, we were not able to carry out optimal preparation. With the clubs where the boys play, we have to admit that we were a step below.
To feed on regrets is really to insult our career. I’m proud of the boys. These are just lessons to be learned.” the debutant AFCON coach concluded.
