Black Stars Technical Advisor Chris Hughton believes that there aren’t enough black managers at the top level of football coaching yet.
He did however note that there has been a positive change at youth level with an increased number of black managers taking up roles there.
‘Superficially, yes, there have been some changes,’ he says. ‘There are more black and ethnic coaches now involved at grass roots, academy level, Under 21s. But what hasn’t changed is the level of black and ethnic managers and coaches at the top level. And that will always be the barometer,’ he told Daily Mail.
Hughton will team up with Otto Addo, George Boateng and Didi Dramani as they prepare the Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana have been drawn in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea for the 2022 World Cup.
