Abdul Rahim Bashiru, assistant coach of Hearts of Oak, remains optimistic despite their defeat to Accra Lions, asserting their team’s strong position in the league.
In a challenging matchday 28 clash, Hearts of Oak suffered a home defeat to their city rivals, Accra Lions, with Ibrahim Issa’s goal securing victory for the visitors in the 56th minute.
Reflecting on the match, Bashiru commented, “That’s football. We started so well. We were even supposed to finish the game in the first half. We had some decent chances but we couldn’t take them.”
He acknowledged Accra Lions’ resilience, stating, “In the second half, we continued before they scored so to me, I can’t tell you the reason why. I don’t know. Whether we lost focus or what. We kept trying but they defended so well. Their goalkeeper did very well so we have to congratulate them.”
Despite the setback, Hearts of Oak maintains their confidence, positioned in 12th place with 35 points, just four points clear of the relegation zone. Accra Lions, on the other hand, rise to third position in the league standings, showcasing the competitiveness of the Ghana Premier League.
