Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, reaffirms commitment to Ghanaian clubs participating in CAF Inter-club competitions, applauding recent successes.
In a statement quoted by Ghanafa.org, Kurt Okraku emphasized, “As we have always done for all our clubs who play in Africa, the FA will continue to offer our support both financially and logistically to all,” Kurt stated.
Notably, Dreams FC and Medeama’s achievements, breaking the country’s continental disappointments, were praised by Okraku.
“In the case of Dreams FC, the support from the FA included fueling the generators at the stadium to enable evening games.”
Dreams FC advanced to the Confederation Cup group stages, while Medeama reached the Champions League group stages.
Dreams FC’s journey marked the first time in 20 years a Ghanaian club reached the semi-finals, though ending with a 3-0 defeat to Zamalek. However, they could re-enter the competition through the FA Cup.
In contrast, Medeama concluded their Champions League campaign at the bottom of Group D, with one victory.
Currently trailing in the Ghana Premier League, Samartex emerges as a potential contender for next season’s Champions League, leading the league table by seven points.
