Nsoatreman FC head coach Yaw Preko believes his team missed opportunities to extend their lead against Elect Sport in their CAF Confederation Cup opener.
The Ghana FA Cup champions made a strong debut in the CAF competition, defeating the Chadian side 3-0 on Sunday in the first leg of the preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Goals from Abdul Rahman and Kwabena Adu Meider propelled Nsoatreman FC to an emphatic victory. However, Coach Preko felt that his team could have been more clinical in front of goal, especially in the second half.
“I’m very proud of the boys. We should have scored more, especially in the second half. We lost a bit of balance, and the substitutions didn’t help,” Preko said in his post-match interview. “It’s our first game, and to get three goals here, I’m very proud, but there is more to come.”
With a commanding 3-0 advantage, Nsoatreman FC heads into the return leg in N’Djamena on August 24, 2024, with confidence. The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the second round of the preliminary stage.
