Hearts of Oak secured a penalty in the 92nd minute, creating a pivotal moment after Emmanuel Ababio handled a goal-bound delivery just on the line. Unfortunately, Ibrahim Salifu’s attempt went wide, adding suspense to the match.
In an unexpected turn, Ibrahim Salifu assisted substitute Martin Karikari, who netted the winning goal in the 97th minute, sparking jubilation among the ‘Phobians.’

In a post-match interview on StarTimes, the resilient goalkeeper expressed the team’s determination to secure a victory in their last game before the first round’s conclusion.
“It wasn’t easy and it was the last game before first round so we were really determined to win. Right from the hotel, to the dressing room and the pitch, we were very poised for the three points.”
Attah acknowledged the disappointment of the missed penalty but emphasized the team’s encouragement for Salifu and their belief in a potential comeback.
“We were disappointed when the penalty was missed but if you’re a footballer you will understand so we had to encourage Salifu because it wasn’t over and we still had chance to win.”
Reflecting on his performance, Attah attributed it to teamwork, emphasizing the collective effort on the pitch. He extended warm wishes to the entire Hearts of Oak community for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
“For my performance, I will say is just a team work and I’m not the only player only player on the pitch. I urge all Heart of Oak fans to take good care of themselves and I wish them a merry Christmas and a happy new year”, he concluded.
