Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has voiced his frustration following his side’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Hohoe United in their Ghana Premier League Week 13 encounter on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors, who travelled to the Hohoe Sports Stadium seeking to end their recent slump, instead extended their winless run to four matches after conceding from a well-taken free-kick in the first half.
Speaking after the game, Zito did not hide his disappointment, particularly with the team’s opening-half performance. He stressed that Kotoko’s lack of tactical discipline was the major factor behind the defeat.
“To be serious with you, I’m disappointed with our first-half performance. I wasn’t happy at all. They had a good free kick, and it resulted in a goal. But I think we didn’t play well in the first half. We were tactically indisciplined,” he said.
The loss leaves Kotoko sitting fifth on the league table with 21 points—five points adrift of leaders Medeama Sporting Club. With pressure mounting, the Reds will now shift their focus to next weekend’s fixture, where they return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium aiming to end their four-game winless streak against Dreams FC.
The clash promises to be a crucial test as Kotoko look to regain momentum and reassert themselves in the title race.
