Medeama SC’s head coach, Evans Augustine Adotey, exudes confidence that his team will secure their first Premier League title following their dominant performance against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
The Yellow and Mauve overwhelmed the Premier League giants, propelling themselves to the top of the league standings, surpassing Aduana.
With an impressive 5-1 victory over the Phobians, Medeama asserted their position at the summit after 31 matches.
Derrick Fordjour opened the scoring for Medeama in the 17th minute, but Hearts of Oak equalized through Salifu Ibrahim’s penalty in the 31st minute.
However, the visitors took control of the game with two more goals from Vincent Atinga and Jonathan Sowah, entering halftime with a 3-1 lead.
In the second half, Jonathan Sowah and Kwesi Donsu extended the lead, sealing a comfortable 5-1 win.
Adotey confidently expressed, “Once we are there, we are winning the league. Trust me, we are winning the league after this game. And lo and behold, my mission is fulfilled. Trust me, we will maintain the top spot until the final day.”
Medeama’s remaining three matches are against King Faisal, Samartex, and Tamale City, and they must emerge victorious in all of them to claim the championship title.
