Abukari Damba, the head coach of Karela United, commended his team for their dedicated effort in securing a crucial victory against the formidable Asante Kotoko.
Giyasu Ibrahim’s decisive goal sealed a memorable 1-0 win for Karela United over the Porcupine Warriors in a Ghana Premier League week 20 fixture.
Reflecting on the match, Damba emphasized the rigorous preparations undertaken by his team leading up to the encounter, which was initially slated to take place at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
Damba praised his players for demonstrating resilience and determination, likening their performance to the “last kicks of a dying horse,” highlighting their unwavering commitment to securing the win. He also acknowledged the quality displayed by Asante Kotoko, acknowledging them as a formidable opponent.
“I did indicate to you that the last kicks of a dying horse are very powerful. I think my players of course did demonstrate that, we worked hard towards this but I must also say Kotoko…they are very very good side.
“They distinguished themselves very creditably just that we did the needful by scoring the goal.”
The Pride and Passion lads celebrated a significant victory over Asante Kotoko at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nalerigu.
This win marked only their second game at the venue since relocating there at the start of the second round of the league.
