Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has remained non-committal about his plans for the 2027 GFA presidential elections amid growing discussions over whether he will seek another term.
Okraku, who was first elected GFA president in 2019 and retained his position unopposed in 2023, became eligible to contest for a third term following amendments to the GFA statutes in 2025.
The possibility of another mandate has sparked debate within Ghana football, with some calling for new leadership while others await Okraku’s decision.
Speaking about his future, the GFA president said he would only reveal his plans when the appropriate time arrives.
“When the time comes, I will speak. When the time comes, the football family will speak,” Okraku said.
He added that he does not intend to remain in office indefinitely.
“I can’t stay here forever and I do not intend to stay here forever. When the time is due, Kurt will fly away.”
The 2027 election is expected to attract interest from several personalities, with former Black Stars captain André Ayew among the names reportedly linked with a possible future bid for the GFA presidency.
For now, Okraku remains focused on completing his current tenure while keeping his election plans private until the campaign period approaches.
