Ghanaian football icon Asamoah Gyan drew attention when he attended Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s National Address on Wednesday, February 7, in Accra.
Gyan, a former captain of the Black Stars and a prominent figure in Ghanaian football, was among the notable guests at the event held at the prestigious Kofi Ohene Konadu auditorium, situated at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
His presence at the occasion, where the Vice President unveiled his vision for Ghana in his presidential bid, underscored Gyan’s emerging role in the political landscape of the country.
Today, Sammi Awuku, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), urged Ghanaians to take note of Asamoah Gyan’s potential contributions.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Awuku, a leading figure in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), stated, “Watch out for Asamoah Gyan. Dr. Bawumia loves people with ideas so watch out for Asamoah Gyan. He is his good friend. You will hear from him. He is one guy who has solid ideas in the area of sports. He is an iconic figure as well.”
Awuku’s comments have ignited discussions on social media, with some Ghanaians speculating that Asamoah Gyan may be considered for the position of Sports Minister if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is elected president in the upcoming 2024 General Election.
