Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, believes that the team’s recent triumph in the 2024 Homowo Cup could mark the beginning of a positive shift for the club.
Over the past two seasons, the Accra-based club has faced significant challenges, struggling to compete in both the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup. However, on Sunday, Hearts of Oak gave their fans a reason to celebrate by coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Heart of Lions and ultimately winning the Homowo Cup in a tense penalty shootout.
In his post-match interview, Coach Ouattara expressed optimism about the future, stating, “Winning the trophy today against Heart of Lions is the beginning of positive things for the club.”
He added, “I am proud because last season, the fans suffered, but I believe this trophy is just the start. We might see a new-look Hearts of Oak in the league.”
As the new season approaches, Hearts of Oak is actively working to strengthen their squad by signing top players, aiming to build on this victory and achieve greater success in the upcoming campaign.
