Lady Strikers, a Ghana Women’s Premier League team, were involved in a road accident on the Tema Motorway on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The Cape Coast-based club was traveling to Tema New Town to face Halifax Ladies in a Round Four fixture of the 2024/25 Women’s Premier League. The match was scheduled to take place at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Park.
According to reports, the team’s bus veered off the road and overturned, as shown in photos shared on social media. Some players were seen with bandages on their heads, sparking concerns about their health. However, the full extent of injuries and the overall condition of those involved remain unknown at this time.
It is also unclear whether the match will go ahead as planned or be rescheduled due to the accident.
Lady Strikers have had a mixed start to the season, earning four points from their first three games. This unfortunate incident adds to the challenges facing the team as they navigate the campaign.
