Reports suggest that 2022 World Cup champions, Argentina, are set to face Ghana in an international friendly on March 26.
The match, featuring Lionel Messi and his teammates, is strategically scheduled to help keep the Black Stars in top form for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Mali and the Central African Republic in June.
However, Ghana is currently without a coach following the dismissal of Chris Hughton after the disappointing AFCON 2023 campaign. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has also dissolved the technical team, marking a significant change in the team’s leadership.
Hughton, appointed in February 2023 as Otto Addo’s replacement, faced challenges during his tenure, winning only four times in 13 matches over 11 months.
The Black Stars’ recent struggles include a winless streak in their last five matches across all competitions, including a defeat to Comoros in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The culmination of these challenges was the disgraceful exit from the 2023 AFCON, where Ghana failed to secure a victory in a challenging group featuring Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
This marks Ghana’s third consecutive elimination from the group stage in major tournaments, including two AFCONs and the World Cup.
