The President of FC Samartex, Richard Nsenkyire, has expressed his support for Ghana Premier League players looking to further their careers abroad, but with a twist.
According to him, players should only make the move at the right stage of their careers, rather than rushing into a transfer after just one season.
Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, Nsenkyire emphasized the importance of well-timed moves that benefit the players. He stated, “I always want to give my players the opportunity to play in Ghana, then Africa, before they move on to play anywhere in the world.”
While acknowledging the recent trend of players leaving Ghana for clubs across the continent, Nsenkyire expressed reservations about mass player transfers after just one season. He believes that players should attain a certain level of performance before seeking opportunities abroad.
As Samartex prepares for its inaugural African campaign, Nsenkyire hopes to retain key players for the upcoming season.
“I don’t believe in the mass transfer of players after just a season because I believe a player must attain a certain level,” he remarked.
“When you leave the country, you should secure a starting spot and contribute to winning trophies, not just for financial gain,” he added.
Nsenkyire also highlighted his aspiration for players leaving Ghana to be capable of representing the Black Stars at any time.
