Legon Cities FC forward Jonah Attuquaye was adjudged Man of the Match following his thunderous display in the Royals Ghana Premier League week 2 victory against Real Tamale United on Saturday.
The Royals recorded their first win of the season after drawing goalless in the opening game of the 2021-22 against Accra Hearts of Oak SC.
Defender Joseph Adjei scored the opening goal of the match on the 22nd minute mark to make it 1-0 to the home team.
Former AshantiGold SC midfielder David Abagna Sandan equalized seven minutes later to make sure Honours was shared at the break.
Nathaniel Acquah restored the home team’s lead nine minutes after the break before Jonah Attuquaye scored from the spot to make it 3-1 with 18 minutes to go.
Abagna grabbed his brace five minutes later from the spot but his strike was not enough to salvage a point for the Premier League returnees.
Speaking after the game, Attuquaye said: “We gave a spirited performance. I am happy with the second half determination from my colleagues.
He continued: RTU came in strongly but we managed to win, that is the most important thing. We will stay focus and keep fighting. The season is still young.”
Legon Cities FC are unbeaten in two games with four points while RTU are without a win.
