Black Princesses forward Mukarama Abdulai voiced her disappointment over the team’s inability to capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities in their narrow 1-0 victory against Ethiopia in the Group A opener of the 13th African Games.
The former FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Golden Boot winner played a pivotal role in Ghana’s win but believes the team should have secured a more convincing victory.
Despite the missed chances, Abdulai remains optimistic about their upcoming match against Tanzania on Tuesday, stressing the team’s readiness to rectify their shortcomings.
Reflecting on the match, Abdulai emphasized the need to convert scoring opportunities and acknowledged the fans’ expectations for a stronger performance.
She expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and highlighted the coaches’ efforts to address individual and collective weaknesses.
“The first game didn’t go as planned, it didn’t go the way we all wanted, especially missing chances that we could have scored” she told the press ahead of the game.
”Our fans expected more but going into the second match, we have worked on what didn’t go well for us and the coaches have worked on areas we lacked individually and as a group.
The Black Princesses are set to face Tanzania on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, with Abdulai eager to lead her team to success.
