Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, are bracing themselves for a formidable challenge as they aim to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games, according to their head coach Nora Hauptle.
The Black Queens are determined to make history by securing their first-ever participation in the Olympic Games. However, they are well aware that the road to qualification will be arduous and filled with obstacles.
With their sights set on the upcoming Games in Paris, Hauptle acknowledges the tough journey that lies ahead, starting with the crucial first-leg match against Guinea.
The outcome of this match will determine whether they advance to face two of Africa’s representatives from the 2023 FIFA World Cup, adding further complexity to their path.
Speaking to the press ahead of the pivotal clash against Guinea, Hauptle openly recognized the demanding nature of the upcoming fixtures. She expressed confidence in the team’s ability to overcome the challenges, highlighting the quality of players and the extensive match schedule as key factors that give them a chance to qualify.
“When you look at the draw, I think the first steps are very makeable,” she said. “Somehow, we are going to face Zambia and Morocco. They are part of the World Cup which is beginning in two weeks.
“So, it will not be an easy route but am pretty convinced with the quality of players we have and a lot of matches, we have the chance to qualify,” Hauptle affirmed.
