Medeama SC, the recently crowned champions of the betPawa Premier League, are optimistic about hosting their CAF Champions League matches at the newly refurbished T&A Stadium.
Moses Armah, also known as Mospacka, the President of Medeama SC, shared with Graphic Sports that the construction of the new facility is nearing completion, with approximately 90% of the work finished.
Armah expressed hope that the impressive architectural masterpiece would be ready before the commencement of the continental club competition.
However, he also mentioned that the Cape Coast Stadium has been selected as an alternative venue in case the contractors are unable to complete the renovations of the Tarkwa stadium in time for the CAF Champions League matches.
Two years ago, Medeama’s sponsor, Gold Fields Ghana Limited, allocated $16 million for the renovation of the stadium, transforming it into a modern facility with a seating capacity of 10,000. The upgraded features include the playing field, VIP stand, media stand, ticket booths, drainage systems, and more.
During the previous season, the club utilized Akoon Park in Tarkwa as their home ground, a move that contributed to their remarkable achievement of winning the Premier League title for the first time.
As a result of this triumph, the Tarkwa-based club earned the opportunity to represent the country in their inaugural participation in the CAF Champions League.
