The Black Stars of Ghana are poised for a consecutive victory in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers as they prepare to face Comoros on Tuesday.
After narrowly defeating Madagascar at the Baba Yara Stadium in their opening World Cup qualifier last Friday, Ghana seeks another win against Comoros at the Moroni Stadium in their second group game.
Inaki Williams, representing Athletic Club, secured the late victory against Madagascar, ending an 11-game goal drought for Ghana and addressing concerns about his goal-scoring form.
Following their successful start, the four-time African champions are determined to secure another win against Comoros. The Black Stars arrived in Moroni on Saturday for preparations and held their first training session on Sunday in anticipation of the upcoming clash.
Ghana aims to rectify their disappointing exit from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by seeking revenge against Comoros in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. In the 2021 AFCON, Ghana fell short of progressing from the group stage, drawing 1-1 with Gabon and losing to Morocco.
Despite being underestimated, Comoros surprised Ghana with a 3-2 victory, taking advantage of a numerical disadvantage caused by Andre Ayew’s red card. Ghana, determined to secure their fifth World Cup appearance, will face Comoros with the goal of advancing further in the qualifiers.
