Ghanaians were shocked to the bone once again on Thursday afternoon when for the umpteenth time Dreams FC defender Philemon Baffour had a Black Stars call up.
The 20-year-old right-back has had a series of call-ups but is yet to even feature one minute in any game for the team.
It is surprising that he keeps getting invitations whereas there are other players who also deserve to come and show what they can do.
It is an open secret that he is being held by a supposed mighty “hand” and no matter who the Black Stars coach is, his place is already cemented in the team and he cannot be dropped.
Baffour is not even the best right-back in the Ghana Premier League as we have more formidable players in that position such as Christopher Nettey of Kotoko as well as Hearts of Oak duo of Fatawu Mohammed and Caleb Amankwa.
His constant Black Stars call-ups without him playing paves way for lots of discussions. Is he in the team because of someone’s personal gains? Well, time will definitely tell.
Ghanaians should not be surprised to see Baffour in the AFCON squad without justifying himself.
