Executive Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo has strongly rejected calls for a local coach to be given the Black Stars job.
According to the him, there’s no locally-based coach currently competent enough to handle the Black Stars team.
Responding to a question on Cape Coast based Darling FM on whether a locally-based coach should be given the Black Stars job after abysmal display by coach Milovan Rajevac at the AFCON 2021, Oduro Sarfo said that, “We had a Ghanaian coach sometime back and what was the results..? Sometimes, he asked the management members to help him in players selection.
“I know the GFA President is eager to equip coaches. It is not official yet but he [GFA Boss] is planning to send some coaches outside for attachment, until then, no local coach is ready to handle the Black Stars”, he added.
Ghana exited the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament following a shameful defeat to minnows Comoros in last group game on Tuesday night.
The four-time African Champions, were beaten 3:2 by Comoros to finish bottom in a group that also had Morocco and Gabon with only a point after three matches, scoring only three goals and conceding six.
