I will say yes if the Ghana FA comes calling again – Kwasi Appiah

Former Ghana head coach James Kwasi Appiah says he won’t hesitate to pick up the Black Stars job again should the Ghana Football Association call on him.

The former Ghanaian international has agreed to lead the Black Stars for a third time. He was in charge of the team when Ghana competed in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

After Ghana’s underwhelming performance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, his contract was not renewed by the Ghana FA having returned two years earlier for his second spell.

Charles Akonnor replaced Appiah after his departure before Milovan Rajevac took over for a second time, and Otto Addo eventually led the squad to Qatar for the World Cup.

Following Ghana’s elimination from the group stage, Otto Addo resigned, leaving the top job open.

The GFA has been hunting for Otto Addo’s replacement ever since. Chris Hughton, the former coach of Brighton, and Kwesi Appiah, a member of Otto Addo’s backroom staff, have both been named as candidates for the role.

“The fact that I have not come out to say I have stopped coaching if the opportunity comes and I can help why not,” the former Asante Kotoko star said in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV.

“Once coaching is my destiny if I’m approached and I can help why not.”

Appiah’s last coaching job was at lower tier side Kenpong Academy.
