The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association has issued its verdict on Skyy FC’s appeal regarding the protest case against Nations FC.

In a comprehensive ruling, the Appeals Committee upheld the decision of the Disciplinary Committee in its entirety and confirmed all the sanctions imposed on Skyy FC.

The decision has been duly communicated to all concerned parties. Consequently, Nations FC will retain their position at the top of the Zone two league table as they head into Matchweek 29 this upcoming weekend.

To provide some context, Nations FC lodged a protest against Skyy FC following their Gameweek 18 encounter at the St. Martins Anglican School Park in Daboase.

The match ended with a 3-0 victory in favor of Skyy FC. Nations FC claimed that Skyy fielded an ineligible player named Victor Mends, who was initially registered with Rail Stars Football Club (FC) and subsequently transferred to Skyy during the main registration window of the 2022/2023 season.

Nations FC argued that Skyy FC did not utilize the original registration details of the player in the FIFA Connect system after Rail Stars FC accepted their request and released him.

They alleged that Skyy altered the player’s registration details, including his name and date of birth, to EGHAN VICTOR JNR with a new date of birth as 07/09/2004. By playing the player in the Gameweek 18 match, Skyy FC was seen to be in violation of Article 33 of the GFA Division One League Regulations.

In response to Nations FC’s petition, the Disciplinary Committee conducted its investigations and ruled in favor of Nations FC. As a consequence, Nations FC was awarded three points and three goals, while Skyy FC had three points deducted from their accumulated points.

Additionally, Skyy FC was fined Two Thousand and Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢2,500.00).

The ruling has resulted in a reshuffle of the Division zone one table, with Nations FC now positioned at the top. Looking ahead, Nations FC will participate in next season’s betPawa Premier League, while Skyy FC will compete in the Division One Zone Two League.
