Yaw Preko, a former Ghanaian international and ex-Great Olympics coach, has expressed his willingness to consider an offer from Accra Hearts of Oak to assume their vacant coaching position.
Despite initially dismissing rumors of rejoining his former club as an assistant trainer, Preko has now made himself available for the role ahead of the upcoming season.
“I am ready because it is my job. If someone calls you for his job, you have to ask about what is good for him. If you can deliver then you can accept it but move on if you can’t deliver,” the Ghana U-15 coach told Ghanasportspage.com in an interview.
Preko has previous experience with Accra Hearts of Oak, having served as an assistant and caretaker coach for the team in 2016. In October 2015, he was appointed as an assistant manager under Kenichi Yatsuhashi and later assumed the role of caretaker manager, replacing Sergio Traguil.
Since departing from Accra Great Olympics in February, Preko has been without a club. As the 2023/24 season is set to commence in September, Hearts of Oak is expected to appoint a new trainer to replace former coach Slavko Matic, who departed midway through the previous season.
