Former head coach of the Black Queens, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, has expressed her readiness to contribute her extensive expertise to elevate Oaks FC into a prominent position among Ghana’s top female teams.
As perhaps the most seasoned female tactician in Ghana, Tagoe-Quarcoo has recently taken the helm as the head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak’s women’s team, embracing this fresh challenge with confidence in the potential of the right players and resources.
With a remarkable history of achievements and a deep commitment to the sport, Coach Tagoe-Quarcoo shoulders the weight of expectation in her new role at Oaks FC, aspiring to propel the team to unprecedented accomplishments in the upcoming season.
Having effectively transitioned from being a footballer to a FIFA referee and subsequently becoming the first woman to manage a men’s premier league side (Amidaus Professionals), Coach Tagoe-Quarcoo acknowledges the substantial expectations that accompany her new position, even though she approaches it without undue pressure.
“It is not anything extraordinary. It is just moving from one team to another and I think with the right players and resources, Oak FC will be one of the great female teams in Ghana soon,” she conveyed to Graphic Sports.
At 49 years old, her appointment is part of a broader restructuring of the club’s technical team.
