Andre Ayew reveals he’s currently in talks with almost three clubs over his next potential move after leaving Dutch side NAC Breda.
The former Black Stars captain made the revelation on the Obi One Podcast, hosted by former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi in Accra on Sunday, as he considers his options after leaving NAC Breda.
“I’m currently negotiating with two or three clubs. We’ll see what’s best for me and my family. The kids are growing so we need to think about them,” Ayew said.
The 36-year-old is keen to continue playing this season despite being without a club since his departure from NAC Breda in the summer.
Ayew has been training in Ghana during his time without a club and has regularly been seen playing in Legon, where his father Abedi Pele’s club FC Nania usually play their home matches.
He is now weighing up his options as he looks for a club that suits both his football ambitions and family considerations.
Ayew also revealed during the podcast that he has been the Chief Executive Officer of FC Nania for the past few years.
“For a few years now, I’ve been CEO of FC Nania,” he said.
The revelation comes amid reports linking Ayew with a possible future role in Ghana football administration, including claims that he could be considering a run for the Ghana Football Association presidency in 2027.
However, Ayew has made it clear that his immediate priority remains the development of Ghana football rather than any political ambitions within the association.
Asked by Mikel Obi how he would respond if Ghanaians called on him to help fix the country’s football, Ayew said: “First of all, what the masses want is most important. I’ve heard the rumours about people saying I should lead Ghana football, but that’s not what is important; I just want our football to grow.”
“Not tomorrow, but now,” he added.
