14th February:  The day to start the “Save Ghana Football” project

14th February has always been a day the world gears up to celebrate and express their love for their loved ones.

Saint Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a day filled with romantic moments like enjoying romantic movies, attending romantic gigs and enjoying songs in the calibre of ‘Heaven’ by Bryan Adams, ‘When A Man Loves a Woman’ by Micheal Bolton, ‘Telephone Nkomo’ by Mike Gyamfi and ‘Tena Me Nkyen’ by Papa Yankson featuring Paulina among many other songs filled with romantic words.

Vals Days are always great days as men and women who are in love rekindle their romantic affairs.

Here in Ghana, it will be very different in Accra as Sports Journalists in the country are hitting the streets in the capital to demonstrate against the Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministery over their incompetencies in the development of sports in the country.

Ghana’s sports are in real danger of collapsing with the leaders having turned deaf ears to the numerous pleas from Ghanaians.

Patrick Osei Agyeman Countryman Songo, Saddick Adams, Bright Kankam Boadu, Atta Poku and many more famous sports broadcasters have decided to demonstrate to the whole world their dissatisfaction towards the management of Football in Ghana.

The Black Stars have exited the group stages of the last two AFCONs as it is the first time in the history of the country to witness such back-to-back embarrassment.

Juvenile football has died completely because the U-17, U-20 and U-23 have not been seen on the world stage for quite a long time.

There’s no proper venue to stage international competitions in Ghana per CAF. This is the most embarrassing of all the problems we have as a nation in sports.

Ghana has played at the FIFA World Cup on four occasions and it makes it very unbelievable to see none of the venues in the country meeting FIFA and CAF standards.

Journalists have united throughout the country to kick start the journey to force the leaders to do the needful on the day set aside to celebrate love.

The issue of bribery and corruption is at its apex as management members of the Black Stars even received $100k during the 2023 AFCON, per reports. The Black Stars have become an avenue for siphoning the nation’s money by the so-called football people.

The GFA shamefully had a meeting with the press in the Ashanti Region last week just to try and win some of the journalists to minimise the criticisms towards them.

14th February is the day set aside to start the journey of saving Ghana’s dead football. The road is very long and rough but I know the good citizens of Ghana will reach there.

The demonstration will demand a change of attitude in nepotism, bribery, corruption and interference killing every aspect of our sports.
