Karela United emerged triumphant in their clash against Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Following a 52-day break due to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which saw Ivory Coast claim victory, domestic football returned this weekend with fervor.

Hosting Legon Cities at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre, Karela United capitalized on their home advantage, securing a convincing 2-0 win over their opponents. The first half unfolded with both teams fiercely contesting, resulting in a thrilling goalless draw as they vied to break the deadlock.

However, Legon Cities faced adversity as early as the 25th minute when Samuel Tenedu received a red card, reducing them to 10 players for the remainder of the match. Despite the setback, they fought valiantly but ultimately struggled against Karela United’s relentless pressure.

In the second half, Karela United seized control of the game, with Solomon Aboagye igniting their momentum by scoring just three minutes after the restart. With the tide in their favor, Fatawu Mohammed sealed the victory for Karela United in the 84th minute, ensuring they claimed all three points.

This crucial win propels Karela United out of the relegation zone, positioning them 14th on the league table with 20 points. Meanwhile, Legon Cities find themselves in the 11th position with 24 points after 18 matches, reflecting on their performance and strategizing for upcoming fixtures.

As the dust settles on this thrilling encounter, Karela United celebrates their hard-fought triumph, buoyed by their resurgence in the league. Their determination and resilience serve as a testament to the competitive spirit of Ghanaian football, captivating fans and inspiring hope for future success in the Ghana Premier League.
