Confederation Cup winner, Sanni Mohamed has opened the lid on how the operations of the media indirectly sabotaged his carrier. The former goalie who is now a professional police officer felt betrayed about how he was blacklisted by the media in the event leading to the Black Stars first qualification to the World Cup in Germany.

Sannie Mohammed, who is also a product of the Ghana institute of Journalism narrated how he was dropped after Ghana’s vital 2-0 win against the Bafana Bafana in the World Cup qualifier with a litany of lies.

”I was part of the squad that qualified Ghana to first world cup, but to be honest I was not getting playing time, we played against Burkina faso here and went to play 1-1 with Congo away and went to South Africa to beat them 2-0, it was from that time I was dropped by then we knew we had qualified and they dropped me it was Sammy Adjei and Patrick Antwi , George Owu came later and they lied on me and dropped me”

”The media blacklisted me they did not want to listen to my side of the story . I heard them say when I was told to go and play I said I was sick . Meanwhile we are three Sammy Adjei was one , Patrick Antwi was two and I was third ,by then Sammy Adjei was injured they jumped the second keeper nobody came to ask me if I can play in that match or not the next day George Owu was at dinning with us, when we reached Ghana they polluted Ghanaians that they asked me to man the post and I declined meanwhile I was not the second keeper” Sannie Mohammed Painfully narrated

The former Kotoko keeper took a direct swipe at the media ”why did they not talk about Patrick Antwi as a second keeper but they came for George Owu and they were talking and running me down in Ghana no media house gave me the chance to explain even though then I was on better form than George Owu .They saw both of us during the CAF Confederation Cup, but they forgot when the Black Stars went to kenya they turned me into a number three (Left back) whiles Owu and Antwi were in the post during training”

Sanni Mohamed is currently the goalkeeper trainer for Dreams FC as he combines his duties with professional police work. The goal keeper’s trainer was influential as Dreams FC reached the semi finals stage of the CAF Confederation competition.
