Former Hearts of Oak CEO, Frederick Zakour, is advocating for the re-appointment of Laryea Kingston as the head coach of the Black Starlets, despite the Ghana Football Association (GFA) yet to draw up a definitive shortlist of candidates.
Zakour believes that re-appointing Kingston will be in the best interest of the FA, as it will prevent them from scrambling for a good coach with a great understanding of the game.
Kingston had resigned as Black Starlets coach last month, after the team finished third in the WAFU U-17 Championship and failed to secure a spot in next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Zakour urged the leadership of the GFA to reappoint Kingston, citing his positive impact on the team before his resignation. “I urge the leadership of the GFA to reappoint Laryea Kingston as head coach,” Zakour said.
“Laryea should have shown patience despite the setback because we all saw the positive impact he was making. I am confident that if reappointed, he will perform well. He is my protégé, and I know his capabilities.”
