Elfsborg midfielder Michael Baidoo has shared his delight after making his debut for the Ghana national team, highlighting the significance of having his family and friends present during the milestone moment.
The 25-year-old came off the bench during Ghana’s 0-0 draw against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and featured again as a substitute in the return leg in Libya.
Reflecting on his national team debut, Baidoo said, “It was a special feeling. I was really excited to get a call-up, and it was an honour to represent my country. It was a childhood dream to be part of the national team, so when I was called to come on, I was really excited. My family and friends were there to support me.”
Baidoo’s inclusion in the squad came as a late call-up, filling in for Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, who missed the games due to illness.
Baidoo has been in fine form for Elfsborg this season, amassing 14 goals and seven assists in 35 matches across all competitions, further solidifying his reputation as one of Ghana’s rising talents.
